Help!

I'm in the market for a new camera and need some help. The one I have right now is in desperate need to being replaced. Well technically I have two but Caleb has gotten ahold of one and broken the lens. I tell ya I can't keep anything away from him! The one I have that is still operable is close to calling it quits also. It was dropped a while ago and the battery compartment won't stay closed so it's seen its day also.

I want a camera that has a quick shutter speed so as not to get blurred pictures. I want clean, crisp, bright pictures. So give me your recommendations. Tell me what you have or what you want. I'm excited to learn about how you take pictures and how you approach picking out a new camera. Lay it on me :)

Cannon Elph!!!!! It is a point and shoot digital and takes great pictures with no delay. I had one before it and hated it. But I love, love, love my Cannon Elph.

I just have a Sony Cyber-shot. It's not the greatest camera b/c it's just a point & shoot. But I wanted one that took pics & videos.

If you can, you need to spend a bit of money and get a nice digital slr. I have a Canon Rebel XT that I bought several years ago and I really like it. You will find any number of people who also love the Nikons though as well.

If you go to my blog, I have a link in my sidebar that tells you more about the camera gear I own.

Good luck with your decision. You won't regret it if you get a nice one!

I did this same post before I got my new one and I ended up getting a Canon Power Shot SD880 and I LOVE it!!! I just happen to come across a camera review the week I was getting my camera and found that this camera won the top rating too!! I researched like crazy on cameras to... I found that shutter speeds are not very fast on many cameras at all (unless you go for a very expensive one), but this one is pretty good....
I like it!!!

Hi, Stephanie. If you're really interested in photography, get a digital SLR. Nikon and Canon are both great. I just purchased a Canon Rebel Xsi for around $800 with an extra lens. I think they've even come down since then. It costs a bit, but the picture difference is incredible.

Another suggestion...buy online from a reputable store that isn't in your state. Usually you can get free shipping, and since it's not in your state...no taxes!

BTW, you asked how I got my background blurry. It has quite a bit to do with aperture. I have an additional lens that has the ability to have a very wide aperture. The wider open, the shallower the depth of field which basically means...blurry background. This site explains it well: http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/2008/05/what-the-heck-is-an-aperture-part-one/

Good luck with making your choice. :)

I do take pictures a lot without the flash. Most of the time they turn out but sometimes they don't. So I guess it could go either way. this camera is tiny. It fits in my back pocket. That is why I like it. There is no attachable lens. If you want expensive one, I would do a Cannon. I just think the Cannon is superior. I've never had any troulbe with any of mine. I have the Cannon Rebel too (not digital). And love it even though I don't use it much anymore.

Mine is a Pentax K22D SLR and I love mine. I have always liked using Pentax cameras. Hope you find a great one!

I wish I could help, but I don't really like my camera. :( I am interested to hear what others have to say, though. Surely someone will come along soon with news of an awesome digital camera in the $150 range!
Thank you so very much for your kind words and prayers as I was going through an extremely hard period in my life. I cannot tell you how much of a blessing it was to open my comments and see your encouraging one right up at the top. Thanks, friend. Your comment made me feel so comforted. :)

I LOVE my Canon. I have had 2 different models and have had great sucess with both. Inbetween my Canons, I had a Kodak easy share and i hated it...took lousy pics! The only yucky thing about the canon is the batteries. But I LOVE IT!

Wish I could help... I don't even own one. Ironically, I just wrote about that today. Thanks for visiting my blog so often.

Wow...I wish I had some spetacular advice to offer you. Sadly, my point and shoot is the only camera I have ever known.

My husband claims that I cannot buy a new camera until I actually read the manual for the one I currently have. Translated: The probabality of my getting a new camera does not look good!
