Allie's 1st Birthday-Part 2

DISCLAIMER: TONS OF PICTURES

I'm sure everyone thought it never happened...Allie's Birthday that is. I am finally getting around to posting pictures from her actual birthday party. I still haven't done her video yet for the first year but I'm going to get to it! Things have been so busy around here with baseball that I haven't had time to get other things done.

Allie had a blast at her birthday. My moms were the only ones here so it was low key and she did great. Allie doesn't do well around lots of people in small spaces. She loves the ballpark and does well with people there but even still if she sees someone she doesn't like or hears a deep voice she loses it and it's hard to get her composed again. I did a princess cake for the big cake and then for her smash cake she had a giant cupcake. She dug right in!!!! I wanted to get a picture of it sitting on her high chair with her right there but as soon as she saw it she started reaching for it...then the second I put it down she was immediately in it. Oh my..what a mess!!!!!! It was such a highlight to be able to share that day with her...I'll never forget it! I'm still just amazed that I've been blessed with a little girl...I can't believe it. When I got pregnant this last time there wasn't a doubt in my mind that we were having another boy...I mean we just didn't make girls...it wasn't in our genes. The day we found out she was a girl was the day my grandfather died and we were headed out the very next morning to Oklahoma..I remember walking in and telling David and he just broke down in tears. There are still days that I wake up and have to tell myself that we have pink in our house. Something about a girl....just like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day! I can't wait until we can dress Barbies, play with her dolls, have a tea party and play dress up. I'm incredibly blessed!

She got a swing from one of her grandmothers. Of course it had to be PINK! She loves it...we've been outside the last couple of days and she absolutely loves to swing..I've got pictures of her first time on it but I'll save those for another day.

I think I've created a monster. Lucas got this camera for Christmas from his grandmother and loves it. Downside is he's always right beside me trying to get pictures and half the time Allie won't look at me because he's right there too. Sometimes it drives me insane and I just tell him he's gotta get out of my way :)

This was her favorite thing...her other grandmother got her this and she absolutely loved them. They're drums that play music and light up...I couldn't get her attention away to open other presents because she was so caught up in these.

She had to see them from every possible angle!

I still think she's the best gift opener of any one year old I've ever seen! She's fast and efficient!

As soon as she opened this walker/stroller she was on top of the box and spent the better part of the next week on top of it. She would crawl up and play and play and play. We just now took it out of the box this past weekend and put it together.

Cheese!

I love this picture...it's like she's saying "Is this all mine?"

She dove head first into it...no hands no nothing...all mouth!

PISSED

This is a nice word...I could get much nastier but I'm going to try and remain civil. Okay well maybe I will..we'll just have to see.

Since I've been blogging about Lucas' baseball a good bit this year you all know that our team has been having a great season! We only lost 3 games the entire season and the kids were on a roll to the championship. It was double elimination so you had to lose two in order to be eliminated(okay well that was an explanation of double elimination :) my brain isn't working tonight!) We were scheduled to play the other only undefeated team on Monday night which we did and we lost. That put us in the losers bracket so we had to play a team that had already lost and we had to win in order to stay in the running. We did that Tuesday nigth and won so on Wednesday we were up again the undefeated team again. We beat them 21-13 and were scheduled to play Thursday night for the championship. We played 3 straight nights of ball and the kids played their hearts out...they were so pumped when they left that ballpark Wednesday night knowing that they were coming back Thursday to play for it all.

Thursday it started raining first thing in the morning and I got an email from our Rec Dept saying that we needed to be prepared to play Friday or Saturday in case things got rained out on Thursday. I thought okay that's reasonable and went about until they sent word on what the plan was. Not an hour later I got another email saying that they weren't calling games yet but that if it got rained out on Thursday that it was over. They were calling the season and not going to let the kids finish and play their championship game. They were going to give the final two teams in each division the championship medals and call it at that.

UGH!!!! I still can't believe they did that...I can't believe they let the kids get that far and then took it away from them. Seriously would it have killed them to delay the game for a day or two. They said that everyone was going out of town...yeah right! I've heard rumors about things that were said...who knows what's true. I've heard they talked to certain people and the coaches voted on whether to call the season or not...who knows if that's true...because I know of 2 specially that were in the finals they did not talk to. Of course it's over for them...no apologizing no nothing. Ignoring parents phone calls and emails and of course never admitting that they were wrong. The league that we've been with this past year has been so terribly unorganized that it's not funny. I know they have alot of teams and tons going on but give me a break...we've been overbooked on t ball practices so that when we got there there was a softball game taking place on our field and noone bothered to tell us so that 13 4 and 5 year olds didn't come out thinking they were going to get to play ball only to get turned away for their last practice of the season. They refuse to admit that they're not organized although it is blatantly clear that they are anything but efficient and together on anything.

I'll tell you one thing....they don't think it's personal and it's no big deal...they weren't the ones that had to look their 8 year old in the eyes and tell him that he wasn't able to play and that the season was over. They didn't have to see the tears streaming down his face and they don't have to live with it.

Mad...yes!
Disappointed...yes!
Irritated...yes!
Possibly moving to another league next year....who knows!

Friday Photo Flashback

Alicia holes this meme every Friday for those of us that have pictures that were scanned into our computers. I have lots that were digital but I used to not keep them on my computer so I had to scan them back in again. That's where this one came from.

This is Lucas and David shortly after Jacob was born. This was in the summer of 04. It's hard to believe that we ever had only two kids :) Seriously I think back and it's hard to remember a time when they weren't all four here. David was trying to teach Lucas how to slide on the slip n slide and it was so much fun watching them. I do remember that...so funny! I think David might have had more fun than Lucas did actually. Those slides are SO much fun!!!!!

Head over to Alica's and show us your old photos.

Prayers Needed

I've been following along on Lindsays journey for a while now. Such an absolute cutie pie!!!! Lindsays parents are so incredibly dedicated to being there for Lindsay that someone is almost constantly there with her and they amaze me with their strength and faith in the Lord. Lindsay has been in the hospital since November waiting on a heart transplant. She was born with HLHS and has endured 5 open heart surgeries so far..more than any innocent child should ever have to go through. Lindsay was supposed to have a birthday party this weekend at the hospital since she is fast approaching the big one year mark and when I logged in tonight there it was. Her heart came!!!!!!!! Alleluia! Please keep Lindsay, her mom Suze, dad JR and her brothers Cole and Cruz in your prayers tonight. Please pray for a successful surgery and a quick recovery. I am absolutely speechless right now but I just had to share with you as I'm sure she can use all the prayers she can get. Hop over to her blog and let her family know you're thinking of them and while you're there you can see some of the most adorable pictures ever! Just in case my link isn't working Lindsay's blog address is

Catch Up?

We have one more night left in baseball. We play for the championship tonight..after the entire season it's down to one game. The kids are pumped and everyone is excited. I believe I have killed my throat...we have been at the ballpark every single day this week and I woke up this morning with my throat killing me. Of course when I got out of bed this morning it was raining.

I love this picture..I'm going to edit it but I haven't done it yet...this was right after we won first place in our division and I captured the pure glee on Lucas' face....one of my all time favorites!

I've been so behind on everything...I'll admit I have a much harder time checking blogs during the day now. I have been trying to stay away during the day and then just blog at night but this week we've been at the ballpark so much that blogging has taken a back seat. I've tried to catch up but failed miserably so I'm hoping to be able to stay on top of it now. I've quickly realized that I'll never be able to go back and catch up on everything..I'll just have to start anew.

I still need to post Allie's birthday pictures from her actual party but haven't gotten around to it. I hope to get that done this weekend. Thank you all so much for all of your incredibly sweet comments earlier this week about Caleb. I can not tell you how absolutely floored I was at the outpouring of support and love that I felt during that time. You guys have been awesome. I took him to the doctor on Monday for a follow up and she said that he looks great and his lungs sound clear. He still has altitle bit of a cough and she wanted me to watch it...if it's still around tomorrow she wants to see him again. His cough is gradually getting better though and he seems to be completely back to normal.

I HEART Faces-Happy Birthday

I HEART Faces is a photography blog that showcases photography of what we all love to take pictures of the most...Faces :) This weeks theme is Happy Birthday and since Allie just had her birthday this past week this was easy for me.

I've looked over and over the pictures that I took....all 500 of them :) and I think this is my favorite. This is from her second celebration with her "real" cakes. I just love to see the pure joy on her face!
