A's and Chaos

Lucas got report cards this week. Straight A's again...we told him if he got them for the entire year then he could pick what prize he wanted so the other night at the dinner table I asked him what he was thinking about if he were to get them on his last report card. He went from a book to a Wii....oh my we could be in trouble! Talk about two opposite ends of the spectrum...of course I probablly didn't help matters much when I sarcastically said "you will have gotten straight A's for the entire year and you can have anything you want and you pick a book?" Maybe I should of just kept my mouth shut.

He had been riding the bus this year..his grandmother takes him to school in the mornings and then he rides the bus home. He came home the other day and said that some 5th grader was teasing him that the watch Lucas was wearing was stolen. He pulled out a cell phone and told Lucas that he was going to call the cops on him because he had stolen the watch. Lucas told him that he didn't steal it but that his grandmother had given it to him for his birthday but the kid kept saying that he had stolen it and apparently pretended to call 911. Lucas came home and told me about it...he really didn't seem upset about it but it was enough for me to take him off the bus. Jacob starts kindergarten next year and I wasn't going to let him ride the bus anyway so I would have been picking them up anyways so I figured I'd go ahead and start now. What is it with some kids nowadays..why do they behave like they don't have anything in between their ears and why do they pick younger children to pick on? I don't get it! Aggravates me to no end.

If he's making straight A's then he's definitely smart enough to choose a Wii over a book!
That's crazy about the kid on the bus. What makes kids act that way? Sounds like your son handled it well. I'd have been a crying mess when I was a kid.

Congrats for all A's - don't forget to make a trip to Krispy Kreme for free doughnuts:)
Kids are so mean at that age, and I think it all starts with how they are raised, you know his Mama probably never told him if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!
Have a great weekend!

Way to go and pressure your kid into wanting more than a book! haha Too funny. But if he DOES get straight A's the whole year, a Wii sounds like a good prize. : )

Sorry to hear about the BULLY. Ugh. As a teacher, I see kids do and say mean things all the time. I don't get it. MOst of the problems I hear kids talking about are from the bus or recess, where there's the least amount of supervision. At least he wasn't upset!

Kids are cruel. I always get on my kids about never teasing other kids and standing up for the kids that are being teased. I want them to be friends with everyone..not be labeled the mean girls.
Great job on the A's. Mine are the same way. I hope it stays like that.

Kids can be so mean. My 6 year old stepson gets picked on a LOT because he's sweet, sensitive, and thoughtful. He cries a lot and gets called "crybaby" among other things.

That is awesome. I think I only got straight A's in 4th grade and a couple times in high school. I usually always got at least one B.
