Clean Teeth

Last week before school started Jacob and Lucas both had dentist appointments that had to be taken care of. Jacob had not been to the dentist before and Lucas had not been in a while. I've had problems trying to find dental insurance and finally got everything taken care of so we could get back in the swing of things.

It was an interesting day to say the least. I had all four kids with me at the dentist office and we had meet the teacher night directly after at school for both boys. I knew shortly after we got to the dentist that I had way too much faith in my abilities to take care of all of them at the dentist office.

Lucas and Jacob both had to have several xrays done and Lucas went first so Jacob could see what they were going to do. They both did great jobs and then went in for their cleanings. I was nervous about how Jacob would react to the cleaning since he'd never had it done before..when I was a kid I used to think that was the worst part!!!!!! Neither one of them complained a single time.

Jacob passed with flying colors and had no cavities...dentist said he had a tad bit of crowding on the bottom but that his teeth was perfectly lined and we would watch the bottom for a while.

Lucas did awesome with his exam but had three cavities. For some reason all of his cavities were bunched together and the dentist thought that might be because his teeth are so crowded right now. We are most definitely looking at braces in the future for Lucas on both top and bottom...that's something I'm definitely not looking forward to. We're looking at a consultation at his next cleaning visit in six months...and braces probably around 11 yrs old...I'm not overly excited to see the price tag on those babies! I've also found that insurance is great for xrays and cleanings but when it comes to fillings unless you get a mouthful of silver for kids they don't like to pay crap....3 fillings and 3 sealants will put you out abo0ut $600 these days. We'll have to go back in a couple of weeks to be broke(I mean have those done) :) and I won't be taking all 4 back with me for that "laughing gas" experience.

The waiting room...they loved this!

Caleb looks like he's not happy but really he was having fun. He was looking at the tv when I took this picture so he looks very serious.

My little girl who thinks she's big! She's even walking now...geez...more on that coming later.

Jacob in the xray chair. He got all of them done with the very first try...his hygenist told him he did better than most 10 year olds that came through there :)

Lucas getting his teeth cleaned.

Jacob got to sport the Hollywood glasses because the light kept bothering his eyes...he thought he was incredibly cool!

YAY for clean teeth. I had crowded teeth in which I had to fix with putting braces on myself when I was 20 yrs old so between B and I, I'm hoping our kids don't have the same problem. Those born with strait teeth I was always envious over. Lucky people! :)

Did I hear you say Allie was WALKING???? That is awesome Stephanie, I'm so happy for her. Can't wait to see and read the post about it. :)

You were brave. I have taken all three of mine there too. Yikes. The cost of keeping your teeth healthy is ridiculous. it definitely will break you. Cute pictures. That waiting room looks fun.

I made my husband come with me when I brought TWO boys in... wowsers, all 4 by yourself?? Bravo to you! The boys look so grown up sitting in those chairs! My youngest had to go first as my oldest was freaking out the first time they went... he whimpered through the whole thing but he made it through.

You're a brave, brave woman! I cannot imagine taking my two to the dentist at the same time, much less four kiddos. We got dental insurance this year to get everyone taken care of. I am not excited. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only mom who snaps pictures EVERYWHERE... even in waiting rooms and doctor's offices.

ha ha ha

Great pics! Happy Monday!

We have spent so much money on Noah's teeth! We paid for fillings one year and then the next had to get those SAME ones pulled!!!

Wow! Great pictures! They all look so happy at the dentist's office! Great job taking all of them at once. I have a hard enough time with just my two boys :-)

Yay for clean teeth! We really need to go to the dentist! Brendan gets cavities easily because of his deep creveses in his teeth! Looks like a super cool waiting room!

Well I know that was a some~what hectic adventure! lol

Glad to see the boys teeth are healthy, minus the cavities & braces (sorry).

Is Allie completley walking on her own, or still kinda holding on some?

H has been trying some walking by himself then holding on for his balance. I know though, once he's on the move I can't stop him, so I better shush my mouth now! he,he :)

Stephanie, Our kids dentist has a great office too. They love to go in the big playroom and watch tv. They have animals painted on all the walls around the whole office. They give all the kids a small toy when they are done:) That's so sweet your baby girl is walking. They grow up so fast. Thanks for the comment. Hope to see you soon.
