Whew!

What a week it's been. Last night was the first night in what seems like forever that we didn't have baseball. We lost on Tuesday night and finished 3rd in the tournament. It was a hard loss...When it came down to the last three teams one of the teams got to draw for a bye and we didn't get it therefore we had to play our way in again. It kinda sucked because it seemed like it all came down to luck with the draw. We lost our final game by one run...kids played well but not like they had been for the last week. We were in the final inning and score was 10-7...Lucas was up to bat and hit in two runs and was on first...when two kids came up and one struck out and the other grounded out and the ballgame was over. Lucas took it very hard and cried for a good hour after the game...he ended up going and spending the night at his grandparents house that after it was all over. David and I tossed and turned all night replaying everything in our heads...we talked the next morning and both dreamed about it. Jeez...we need a break from baseball :) I am way behind on blogging and on pictures....I have hardly taken any photos with the exception of baseball games for what seems like weeks now...in all honesty it probably has been weeks. I'm hoping to get some good ones this weekend.

This is the athletic director for our rec department. After he gave all the kids their medals he took the entire team aside and talked to them. I thought it was so sweet...he reminded them that they needed to be proud of themselves and how well they had played. I'm not sure if he does this for every team or just because it was a team from his city but it really made my opinion of him go sky high!

I noticed when I started looking at pictures that the entire time I was clicking away over like 5 mins or so that Lucas was trying to get his eye black sticker off...THE ENTIRE TIME! It was kinda funny to watch the progression of him pulling it.

At the very end David took the team aside one last time and I almost lost it...the kids were all so upset and it got to him..he couldn't talk he was tearing up so bad.

Now for an update on David's back..he has been going to the chiropractor all week so far and he's feeling much better. We are heading down a long road though...long and expensive I might add. Doctor says that his back is in horrible shape and that his L5 has almost no meat left around it. He also says that this is his last chance before probably ending up in surgery and that if he wants to stay out of it then he is going to have to do exactly what he says. They are doing a series of spinal decompressions on him for now(a total of 10 to begin with)and some therapy along with it. They are trying to get his body aligned again but he's so out of whack that it is going to take some time. Right now he's scheduled for 3-4 times a week for the next 6 weeks and then they will reexamine him to determine what else is needed. He is on light duty at work for the next 6 weeks and can't lift anything more than 20 pounds. That's right....yep....20 pounds. What does that mean...it means my life just went from hard to pure hell! That means that he can't hold Allie at all which makes things extremely interesting around here. I told him tonight that one of us wasn't going to make it to the other side of six weeks alive...I'm not sure which one of us is going to survive yet but it's not looking good if it's going to be me. The treatment is going to be very expensive..remember my post from the other day when he was out of work and I was worrying about money..well we have added an entirely new dimension now. We are looking at things every way we possibly can trying to figure out the best way to handle this...we know this is our last chance of avoiding surgery but trying to find out the best way financially is very stressful. I'm praying that what the doctor has started doing is going to make a huge difference in his back and that in the end he'll be much stronger than he has been in a long time.

Whew! you're not kidding! All this makes my back hurt and pulls my heart strings for the boys.

Sounds like they played their hearts out. They'll never forget these days. They gave it their all. What great growing experiences they are having.

As for you and your hubby, sounds like you have a long road ahead. I'll keep you in prayer. Times are tough.

Take care,

When you look at the pictures you can see how sad the kids look. That's the nature of the game, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. But so hard for a little kid.

I'll pray that they can do something for his back that'll help without surgery too.

What's the expression..."When it rains, it pours?"

I'm so sorry about your sons game! Oh, those pictures broke my heart!!!

I'll continue to pray for your husband and for you to have peace about the situation.

I'm so proud of how much dedication your son has with his baseball. It shows strength, courage and team work that most kids won't face until they are much older. They did wonderful and like you said, they should be sooooo proud of how far they came.

I will continue to pray for David.

Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend sweetie! I can smell the BBQ now, YUM!

Our kids play many sports and even though they are young they've had to experience some tough lessons on losing. But losing builds character in learning how to do it with grace and dignity and teaches them more sometimes than winning. Is this the end of their season?

I will keep you all in my prayers! My husband has been traveling for a week and I only have two kids and its hard! Prayers for healing and sanity!!

Bummer, that they lost, but how proud about getting 3rd base! I know that they had a great season, and I am sure you are ready for a baseball break! (not for long though I am sure, doesn't fall ball start soon!??) Sorry to hear about hubby's back. I have lots of back problems as well, and it is no fun. praying for God's hand to be on his back and in your finances. Take care

ah baseball season...nights at the ball park...junk food for dinner...the agony of defeat! I almost miss it, almost.

No fun to have back trouble! I've had my share. Hope he gets to feeling himself soon!
