I've mentioned a couple of other times how my computer had to be restored to factory settings to fix a goof up that the Geek Squad from Best Buy did when I first got it. Thankfully I have an external hard drive so all of my pictures are safe!!! Really Thankfully - you would not want to be anywhere near me or have any contact with me whatsoever if all of my pictures were gone! So now I have basically a brand new computer and I have to get things loaded back on. I keep waiting because I'm not sure how I want it organized. That's where you come in :) How do all of you organize your pictures - what's your method? Do you double archive them? Mean an online storage site and discs or external hard drive plus do you print them all? How do you store them on your computer? Do you do it by month or child or event? Do you name all your pictures or just leave them after edited as the numbers that are assigned when we take them off our cameras? Told ya it wasn't really a wordless wednesday.

Wordless Wednesday "Sorta"

Adorable picture! I am glad you had a back up drive with your pictures! They are priceless!
After I load mine onto the computer, I still leave them on my memory card in the camera. When I get to around 500 or so, I burn them onto a disk (make sure they are on there) and then I delete them from my memory card, but still leave them on computer for easy access.
On the computer, I separate mine by month and then in folders by the activity or date if they are just random. It makes it easier for me to find them that way.
My computer crashed in May, and I would have lost everything if I had not had my pics on disks. Then I got a new laptop and about a month ago, it did something crazy and we had to restore it to factory settings, too! So now I am really serious about getting them on a disk!
PS precious pic of the two little ones:)
We store all our pics on the computer and my hubby loads them on an external hard drive every few months. I have my pics in folders by month...like this month will be 2010,09 that way they stay in order by year and month.
My pictures used to be by event, but now that I have a child and am basically paparazzi, I do them by month. There's too many non-event pictures to do it otherwise.
I just recently got an external hard drive to back them up, so I have them on the computer, on the external, and then I scrapbook, so most of my favorites are either in that or in a folder waiting to get there. :)
Usually I leave mine as their number, but I also don't do a ton of editing them. I zoom some of them in and enhance the coloring on my favorites occassionally, but that's about it. If I'm editing one for a specific reason, then I will save the edit (while keeping the original) under a name in "my pictures" instead of a folder within my pictures - just for ease of finding it to upload it somewhere specific. :)
Good luck!
I am NO help. I need to buy an external hard drive and soon. I only organize my pics on my comp by event and that's it. I need to get way more organized than that but I am so lazy these days! Hope you find a way that works for you!
cute pic..
as for your question...
i have a mixture...
no organization though
Stephanie, Hope you are feeling better and things have settled down. Sweet pic.
I thought that dilation chart was the neatest... I cant wait to be a Bagel lol. Blessings,
Love the color in thier eyes! Great shot Steph!
I use to work in the computers dept @ best buy- i'd never bring my computer to geek squad!!! Wish I coulda told ya that before the fact-
Aww! That is such a cute photo, and I'm so glad that they were safe!!!! After my last computer crashed, we ended up getting an external hard drive for our new one!!
What a sweet picture.
I don't name mine or file them organized until I put them on my hard drive. Which I need a day to organize...but that will never happen. LOL I leave them with the numbers on them because I don't know how to rename them as a group. I have never been to good like that.
I NEED to get an external hard drive...SOON! If my computer crashes and I lose all my pictures... I'd be devestated! I have WAY TOO MANY! I need to figure out a better storage system as well, you'll have to let me know what you end up doing!
